The 10 Principles of Food Industry Sustainability (Wiley-Blackwell, 2015)Perhaps no subject is more critical than determining how to sustainably feed the world’s growing population in the 21st century. Pure Strategies’ VP of Consulting, Cheryl Baldwin, lays out the 10 vital approaches to accomplishing this in her new book, The 10 Principles of Food Industry Sustainability (Wiley-Blackwell, 2015). The book addresses the complex food system by discussing critical sustainability principles and sharing the latest data, best practices and tools, and real-world case examples from dozens of companies.

Free Food Sustainability Webinar on April 30th focused on The 10 Principles

Cheryl will share the 10 principles that provide a framework for a more sustainable food system on a free webinar on April 30th from 1-2 pm ET. Cheri Chastain, Sustainability Manager of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, will join her as they present proven strategies and practical information to enable the food industry to accelerate its uptake of sustainable approaches.

“Although progress has been made, the prospect of safely and sustainably feeding nine billion people by mid-century can seem incredibly daunting.  The 10 Principles can help meet this critical challenge by breaking solutions down into vital approaches, and by providing a combination of practical tools and techniques as well as inspiring examples showing that, with the right approach, we can succeed,” notes Cheryl.

The 10 Principles draw from Cheryl’s experience consulting on sustainability for several of the world’s leading food industry brands and retailers, her academic background and prior experience working within the food industry.

Cheryl’s “book serves as a useful reference guide for sustainability practitioners and strategists within the vital global food industry, providing in-depth research, tools, and case studies to help navigate complex issues and find solutions, and it provides hope for a more sustainable food system,” said Shauna Sadowski, Sustainability Director for organic and natural foods company Annie’s.
