• Report from the Ceres Sustainability Conference

Wednesday, May 9, 2012 by Tara Gallagher

Can you imagine a sustainable economy where we live within our planetary means? An economy that is transparent and accountable in decision-making and equitably shares benefits and resources? An economy where capital markets collaborate in promoting a just society?

Pie in the sky? Not for the folks at Ceres. They are hard at work bringing investors, businesses and advocates together and creating practical tools to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices.

I came away inspired after attending the Ceres annual sustainability conference in Boston. Ceres President Mindy Lubber expressed her firm belief that we can successfully collaborate in developing and putting in place scalable sustainability solutions. Her optimism is solidly grounded in an array of climate change, water scarcity, human justice, and corporate governance achievements.  If you weren’t there to hear her call-to-action, watch Lubber’s interview.

And if you want to contribute to this movement for a new economy, join the Ceres community next spring at the 2013 sustainability conference on May 1-2 in San Francisco. Mark the date!
